Home Ownership Counseling

Home ownership counseling is an important step for anyone thinking of or who has purchased their own home.

HomeFront Buffalo, the Homeownership center, offers FREE training classes to new and perspective home owners in the City of Buffalo!

HomeFront’s program is designed to take people through a number of steps, preparing them to become mortgage ‘ready’ and ultimately sustainable homeowners. At each step, they are mentored by a qualified housing counselor who is trained in the home buying process.

HomeBuyer Orientation Seminar-Orientation courses are held weekly at HomeFront’s Delaware Avenue offices in Buffalo and serve as an introduction to the home buying process.

One on One Counseling-As a part of the one-on-one pre-purchase counseling, a plan is developed to address any credit and financial issues the client may have.

Pre-Purchase Class-Topics covered in the pre-purchase include assessing readiness to buy, selecting a home, financing a home, budgeting and credit, lending and mortgage products, and maintaining a home.

Financial Assistance-HomeFront, Inc. provides potential low to moderate income clients with the opportunity to apply for the City of Buffalo’s American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) grant.

Homeowner Workshop-Designed for clients ranging from novices to experts, the workshops will provide valuable information on how to plan and pay for projects, as well as how to budget for repairs and routine maintenance.
