  • CityCorps is a service organization that is co-sponsored by WNY AmeriCorps and the Common Council offices of Michael P. Kearns and David A. Franczyk.
  • CityCorps is an association of community resources, bringing together The South District Common Council office, the Fillmore District Common Council Office, the South Buffalo Neighborhood Accountability Board, the Cazenovia Community Resource Center, Friends of the Broadway Market, WNY AmeriCorps VISTA members, and several block clubs in the South and Fillmore Districts.
  • The mission of CityCorps is to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods through volunteer-based improvements to the housing stock and public spaces, as well as by assisting residents in need.
Accomplishments
  • Converting a double vacant lot on Miller Ave in the Fillmore District into a community garden
  •  Organized two major community service events in Spring 2010, completing neighborhood clean-ups, public space improvements, and painting projects in the South and Fillmore District
  • Organized two community service projects to make improvements to the Broadway Market
  • Conducted two ReTree WNY plantings in South Buffalo, planting 28 trees
  • Built a wheelchair ramp for an disabled resident in South Buffalo
  • Created a community events calendar for social and cultural organizations in the Fillmore District
  • Partnered to rehabilitate the oldest home in South Buffalo at 49 Buffum St., saving it from the demolition list
