Home > Leadership > Mayor > Archive Press Releases > 2007 Archives > November 2007 > Mayor Brown Kicks Off Food Bank of WNY Holiday Drive Mayor Brown Kicks Off Food Bank of WNY Holiday DriveSource/Contact Mayor donates first box of holiday food With the Thanksgiving holiday just a few weeks away, Mayor Byron Brown today urged all city residents to make donations to the Food Bank of Western New York. “Next month we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving, as we always do, with families coming together, sharing in the spirit and kinship of one of our most cherished national holidays, but, unfortunately, there are those among us who will not have the capability to gather together the food and resources to celebrate this wonderful holiday,” said Mayor Brown. “And that’s why we have come here today with our very good friend, Clem Eckert and the Food Bank of Western New York, to raise awareness of the needs of the less fortunate of our community during the holiday season. We need to help replenish the supply of food at the food bank, so that this critically important organization can help our fellow citizens.” Mayor Brown handed over the first box of food, which contained non-perishable food items. Collection barrels will also be placed throughout City Hall, including the Grand Lobby during the holiday season. Food items can be donated at Food Bank Headquarters at 91 Holt St., from
