"City Resident Named “Sanitation Worker For A Day” BUFFALO—Mayor Byron W. Brown today presented Mr. Terry Thompson with a City of Buffalo Sanitation Department shirt and pronounced him “Sanitation Worker for a Day” for the City of Buffalo. Mr. Thompson is a resident of People Inc.’s Buffalo Group Home and is currently employed at the Central Park Plaza as a Janitor. “The City of Buffalo is honored to give Mr. Thompson this distinction,” said Mayor Brown. “He is one of the hardest working employees at the Central Park Plaza and we would like to honor his service to the city.” The Mayor’s office was contacted about Mr. Thompson by Facilities Coordinator Bob Towlson to let him know one of Terry’s wishes: “Terry is a very hard working and dedicated employee here and an exceptional young man. Terry’s greatest goal in life is to be a garbage man; in fact, he constructed a cart and painted it blue like the garbage trucks to collect trash here at Central Park Day Services.” “This is a wonderful honor Mayor Brown has bestowed upon Terry. He is an exceptional employee and this demonstrates that people that are disabled aspire to be contributing members of our workforce despite their disability,” said Dr. James Boles, President and CEO, People Inc.
