MAYOR BROWN ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF SENIOR SERVICES

Mayor Byron W. Brown this week announced the appointment of Douglas Ruffin as the new Director of the City of Buffalo Division of Senior Services, which is a part of the Department of Community Services, led by Commissioner Tanya Perrin-Johnson.

“Doug brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Division of Senior Services,” said Mayor Brown.  “He is an experienced program developer and administrator with over thirty years of experience.  I look forward to working with him on new and innovative programs for our emerging senior population.”

Mr. Ruffin previously served as Associate Director of N.O.R.C. (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities) at Jewish Family Services of Buffalo & Erie County.  He has held several positions including the Director of Employment, Education & Training at the Clarkson Center and also as the former Executive Director of the Erie Regional Housing Development Corporation.

“I am thrilled to be working with Doug, who brings so much experience to the position,” said Commissioner Johnson. 

Mr. Ruffin also serve on several community boards and operated a private social purpose enterprise consultant service.  A graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury North Carolina, Mr. Ruffin continued his postgraduate studies at the University at Buffalo.
