From Frank Lloyd Wright’s incredible Darwin Martin House Complex, to Louis Sullivan’s intricately-detailed Guaranty Building, to the foreboding towers of H.H. Richardson’s Buffalo State Hospital (the largest commission of his career), Buffalo is home to some of the greatest American architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

As you travel throughout Buffalo, you’ll find a gorgeous system of parks and parkways by Frederick Law Olmsted, as well as buildings by masters like Richard Upjohn, Eliel & Eero Saarinen, Charles Atwood and Lord & Burnham.

You can stand where Teddy Roosevelt took the oath of office at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, or you can learn about the Michigan Street Baptist Church’s role in the Abolitionist movement.

And Buffalo’s neighborhoods range from the Cottage District, with its tiny, colorful homes and bright gardens, to the palatial mansions along Millionaire’s Row, built by turn-of-the century industrialists and businessmen.
